Electronics

When about 12 years old, I used to visit all the local TV/radio repair shops to scrounge abandoned, dead radios. Then I took them home to salvage the parts. I reused the parts to build various electronic projects, that never worked. In high school, I studied tube and transistor electronics. I wanted to become an electronic technologist, I didn't know what an electronic technologist did, but since my hobby was electronics, that was what the school guidance counselor recommended.

Later in high school, I changed my mind to be an organbuilder. Over the years I took various electronics courses: computer science, digital electronics and passive circuit anaylsis. I also have my advanced radio operaters licence - VE3 CZY. I have a fairly complete Ham Station, though I'm not very active.

I used to have a bunch of 30 year old, research grade Hewlett-Packard testgear which I carefully restored. But since I retired, I have upgraded much of it with new gear: including a Vector Network Analyzer and RF Spectrum Analyzer. It is mostly Chinese, beautifully built and very accurate. My 'scope is H-P, of course.

And no, I won't try to fix your TV...
