The music I listen to daily is all ripped to a PLEX server, which can be linked to my phone, ipad or computer anywhere in the world. I've also collected and about 5,000 vinyl lp phonograph records. Record listening is saved for special times when I have the luxury of time for the ritual of removing the disc from the folder, cleaning the grooves and dropping the needle. It's the gestalt of record playing I enjoy.
My turntable is a 40 year old Acoustic Research "The Turntable" customized with an SME-3 tonearm and Shure V15 Type IV cartridge (clone). The power amp was built by View Sonics about 30 years ago, and gives about 110 watts rms/channel out of 16 tubes. The Preamp is a modern Emotiva XSP-1. I also have the matching DAC in case I want to play my iPhone thru it.
